Arboretum & Public Garden- Internship Hands-on full-year internship. This 1 unit internship will meet on Tuesday afternoons from 2-5pm during the fall quarter. Learn essential skills about Sustainable Horticulture; garden design and installation; irrigation design and construction; path building; garden maintenance; and more! Leadership and collaboration are also a big part of the program. We will be learning many landscape plants, particularly native California and/or drought tolerant plants for our Central Valley region. Apply here. Tomato Genetics Resource Center- Student Assistant
Activities in the greenhouse and field include transplanting, pollinating, fruit
harvesting, seed processing, taking notes and general plant care. Duties also include preparing seed samples for distribution and entering data using Microsoft Access and Excel. Plant DNA Identification Lab- Student Assistant NeededAssist with the collection of plant material, DNA extraction from various plant tissues, amplification of DNA marker regions using PCR and the operation of automated genetic analyzers. Job: Laboratory AssistantAssist with fruit & nut harvesting and quality measurements, perform data collection, entry and summary using Excel. Work (15 to 20 hours per week) during the school year, possible full time work during summer. Evening and weekend work may also be required occasionally. Beginning immediately.
